Motor effi ciency remains one of the
top issues for motor manufacturers.
However, where effi ciency is
concerned, there are trade-offs. As
cost is always an important factor,
motor manufacturers need to fi nd
the right balance to increase motor
output without driving up the cost.
Induction motors are considered the
largest users of electrical energy
among all motors. They are used
in a wide range of commercial and
industrial applications, including
fans, compressors, pumps,
conveyors, winders, mills, transports,
elevators, home appliances, and
offi ce equipments.
This application note focuses on the
IEEE 112 Method B test and how
data acquisition can fulfi ll effi ciency-
test requirements.
