Any twisting of the knobs or VSET gpib commands do nothing. Obviously I do not know enough about how power supplies work but it seems an easy problem and it does not make any sense why the voltage would drop. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I suspect, the 6033A is operating in Constant Current(?). You have indicated that the motor runs for a 1/2 sec. then the output voltage drops to 0.3volts. This suggests Constant Current operation. With the motor attached and the output now at 0.3V; is the CV led extinguished and the CC led illuminated? If this is the case, the 6033A is definately in Constant Current operation. Increasing the CC limit to a larger value will prevent the 6033A from going into CC operation. PeterW |

I believe you are going into CC mode. What you are seeing in the beginning is the power supply is in CV mode when you start and then takes about a half second to go into CC mode. DC motors tend to look like capacitors at start up so they have higher inrush until they get up to speed. You may need to set the current much higher until the motor is up to speed then you can lower it to its running current. Raclegg |
