Background info: We have a PCI interface setup to read from the MCB. Much of the time the transactions are for 32 words each with a new starting address. The MCB read FIFO will get loaded with up with 64 words each time requiring it to be flushed in between each (32 word) transaction. This is being done by strobing the MCB read clock until the FIFO is finally empty at which time we're ready for another PCI transaction. This works but takes time thereby reducing throughput. A read pointer reset is really what we needed. Work-around ideas include bumping the read clock frequency up just during the flush time but this causes timing closure issues. Another thought is to use two MCB ports and toggle between them but all ports are being used. Any other ideas or work-arounds out there? Thanks, Mike |
