HP seem to be tightened them considerably more than 8 lb inch. I noticed the same with some 2.4 mm connectors that I recently undone in an 8720D VNA. I'm wondering if HP had any rule that for internal connections, where connectors would expected to be made only once, that a torque well above 8 lb inch was used. Dave |

Cheers Joel. That explains what I'd observed, although I not even considered cold welding. If you do happen to discover whether its 10 or 12 lb inch for one-off connections, I would be interested to know. I've only ever seen the figure of 8 lb inch mentioned anywhere, but it does make more sense that if a connection is only to be done once, it would be beneficial to use extra torque to aid long term reliability of equipment that gets moved around.
